(no) for a reading circle or book club: hmm... I think I might have been part of one for a couple months in high school... didn't like someone else picking what I read though
(yes) joke/humor books for self-enrichment: actually, this might've been a no... I was thinking of "A Whack on the Side of the Head", a book about stimulating creativity... well, then again, after reading that I have gone to humor books to restimulate my creativeness once it's been dead awhile, so... |

| Geek Test 2 |
[Dec. 25th, 2009|11:26 am] |
The Geek Test, Item by Item, with explanations
I HAVE BEEN...
(no) geek of the year: my adoptive parents are very sexist, and consider most things geek in the realm of men. Therefore, I was never considered geeky enough. grrrr
(no) in an a/v club: the schools I was in didn't have one. BUT! I did try to get one started. x.x
(yes) a theater techie: props mistress, sudo-junior year of high school ^.^
(no) to a gamecon: not had the chance, or it would've been a yes
(yes, but I didn't check it) to another con: cause does RenFaire count as a con or not? I did go in costume, which I got the check for that one.
(no) host at any con: almost "Wingstock" when I was roleplaying as Miyumi for Gwing.net Plans were made, but never fleshed out enough for the con to happen.
(yes) Game master: dnd, I was game master for a couple times, but the games didn't get anywhere.
(no) a comp lab monitor: those were relegated to the work study students. My parents make too much for me to have qualified for work study when I was an undergrad.
(no) to a LAN gaming party: another, plans were made, but something got in the way.
(no) host at a LAN gaming party: I will not host something unless I have a decent idea of what it is like. This was one thing that I was told, "you have to be there to understand". Until I manage to go to one, I will not host one.
(no) in a fan club or on their mailing list: never a fan club nearby that I was interested in joining. (all those were preppy ones.)
(no) "that guy" at a concert: even taking it as "that girl", 1- I don't know what that means and 2- I have never been to a concert
(no) in the SCA: I was too busy watching anime and playing video games to run
(no) seriously involved in the SCA: see above
(no) trivial pursuit winner > 10 times : I have only played it once. It was the history version in history class. *shudders*
(yes) called a geek: by myself and others
(yes) several times: see above
(yes) labeled socially inept: but I'm getting better, as I'm sure you all know
(yes) by your "friends": the worst part is- they were geeks too x.x
(yes) in "smart" classes: alg 1 in 8th grade, honor's geometry and honor's biology in 9th, AP calculus in 12th, A Lehman Scholar at my college (math/science distingushed scholar), in Honor's English freshman year of college
(no) on a game show
(maybe? didn't check it) a scout for 10+ years: I was a girl scout. Started at 7. But, I haven't done much with scouts since I was 15, except for being a camp counselor the summer after I graduated college...
(no) a high school mascot: the first high school didn't allow freshmen to do such. The other one didn't have a mascot costume.
(no) in marching band: kinda hard to march w/ the piano, and no school I went to had one
(no) in show choir: I was in choir. We put on concerts. But the rest of the choir sucked and was just there for the fine arts cred.
(no) to band camp: I was a girl-scout-camp kid
(no) to a math/science camp: but I did sign up for the science session at gsc one year
(yes) in the chess club: it started as a mistake. I accidentaly went to the math room on Thursday, forgetting that it was chess club day. There was someone else there not playing. We got into an argument over who was worse, and he spent the entire rest of the year trying to lose to me. x.x I was obviously the worse player. I won a whole of twice. Once, he conceded it to me when it was on the third day and I had more pieces on the board. The other time, I won fairly. All he had was his king. All I had was my king and two rooks. It took me two hours to figure out how to corner a king with two rooks. (okay, it took me 5 mins to figure it out, and the rest of it to perfect the technique cause I kept messing it up)
(no) on any sort of academic team: my schools didn't have any math teams.
(no) in a math competition: none were available
(no) placed high or won: see above
(no) in a science competition: not counting the science fair, since it was required
(no) placed high or won: kinda hard to win something I never been to
(yes) museums by my own free will: I should get an extra- I volunteered at the children's museum of science for my community service cred in college
(no) referred to as Dilbert: I am female. Wait, never mind, I should've checked this... someone actually did
(no) referred to as Velma: actually, I think I was... but the memory is not clear enough for me to be sure it wasn't just a product of my twisted mind
(no) dumped at a dance: never dated, never been dumped
(no) dumped at a star trek convention: *cries* I've never been to a star trek convention! Damn my brother for taking the remote!
(that's right, the only reason I'm not a trekkie is cause I would try to watch star trek, and even if he wasn't watching tv and wasn't going to watch tv, he would take the remote, and change the channel, and threaten me if I changed it back... cruel bastard) |

(no) to keep track of multiple time zones: I've actually been tempted to get one for UK back when I was on irc, cause a few of my rp buddies were in the UK. I have been tempted to in the past year to get Japan's, just cause Japan is cool...

(no) corrected a salesperson on tech specs: don't know enough about this yet. Learning slowly.

(yes) written fan fiction: one with a friend, two with my little brother
(no) written hypertext fiction: I didn't even know this existed until I took this test... x.x
(no) written for a webzine: no interest
(no) created a webzine: no interest

(yes) games or gaming magazine: my roommate has a game stop card, with the magazine coming every month <3
(yes) solved a rubik's cube: I was 11 (but I forgot about that when I took the test, so it wasn't checked)
(yes) solved an entire 500+ piece puzzle: took me over a year, but I put the whole thing together myself. I never get a puzzle less than 1000 pieces. |

| Why do you say you are a geek? |
[Dec. 25th, 2009|11:04 am] |
Well... I've always thought geeky things were cool. :)
According to the geek test at innergeek ( http://www.innergeek.us/geek-test.html ), I score a 40% when I only cheat a little (not sure what it was about a year ago when, if the answer was sort-of, almost, or well, I would've, but xxx got in my way, damn them; then I checked it.)
Scoring chart is:
+ Geekish Tendencies................................≥09% ++ Geek.............................................≥15% +++ Total Geek......................................≥25%
++++ Major Geek.....................................≥35%
+++++ Super Geek....................................≥45% ++++++ Extreme Geek.................................≥55% +++++++ Geek God....................................≥65% +++++++! Dysfunctional Geek.........................≥75%
So you see, I am a major geek. I am going to go through the test item by item and give the truthful answer, along with why this answer applies. |
